Rolls-Royce has signed a landmark contract with the UK Ministry of Defence, the largest to date. Dubbed Unity, the eight-year contract covers all activities related to the research, design, manufacture and support of nuclear reactors powering the Royal Navy’s fleet of submarines.<\/h4>\n

Worth around \u00a39 billion<\/strong>, the Unity<\/strong> contract aims to optimize the performance of the Royal Navy<\/strong>‘s submarines. This partnership represents a major investment for the British government and industry, underlining the nation’s commitment to security and defense.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to announce the Unity contract, which confirms our commitment to the Royal Navy and the Defence Nuclear Enterprise. This long-term contract enables us to invest in the right skills, equipment and facilities to play our part in protecting UK interests at home and overseas<\/em>,\u201d said Steve Carlier<\/strong>, Chairman of Rolls-Royce Submarines<\/strong>. \u201cThe Unity contract enables our business to work truly collaboratively with the Ministry of Defence, meeting rhe evolving needs of the UK Royal Navy, further improving reactor plant design, delivery and in-service support, ensuring the continuing security of our nation at this time of global uncertainty<\/em>,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

The Unity contract marks a milestone for Rolls-Royce<\/strong>, which designs, builds and maintains nuclear reactors for Royal Navy submarines. It includes not only ongoing support for the current fleet, but also support for the construction and commissioning of the Dreadnought<\/strong>-class submarines, as well as the launch of the SSN-AUKUS<\/strong> contracts, a class of submarines destined to enter Royal Navy service in the late 2030s.<\/p>\n
