In August 2020<\/strong>, the United States saw Lord & Taylor<\/strong>, a pioneer in the world of American department stores, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy<\/strong>. The establishment, specialized in luxury goods, had not lasted long in the face of successive confinements caused by covid, dragging down its previous parent company Le Tote<\/strong>, a startup focused on rental fashion, bought out by the Saadia Group in 2020.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Its new owner<\/strong> since September 10, R\u00e9gal Brands Global<\/strong>, aims to revive the brand<\/strong> as what it never was: a luxury goods discounter.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Lord & Taylor brand is<\/strong> due to be reborn in the spring of 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis acquisition marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our storied history,\u201c<\/em> said Sina Yenel, Head of Strategy at Regal Brands Global<\/strong>, interviewed by the Business of Fashion website, before pledging \u201dto revitalize the brand you know and love”<\/em>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The new owner intends to restore the luxury brand’s historic logo<\/strong> – the famous handwriting signed by merchandising officer Dorothy Shaver, to be discontinued in 2021 – and offer an \u201cinnovative\u201d e-commerce site<\/strong>, opening up to new products for the occasion.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But here all familiarity with its historic clientele ends: R\u00e9gal Brands Global wishes to transform Lord & Taylor into a discounter of luxury products, almost essentially online.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \t\tA future luxury discounter<\/h2>\n
