Her ancestor, a farmer in the American South, was also a bootlegger, <b><strong>illegally distilling whisky during the Prohibition era!<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I discovered that <b><strong>my great-grandfather had worked in the moonshine business<\/strong><\/b>,<b><strong> I felt that my love of whisky was predestined,\u201d confided the star.<\/strong><\/b> <b><strong>SirDavis is a way for me to pay tribute to him<\/strong><\/b> and unite us through a new shared heritage. It&#8217;s also a <b><strong>testament to LVMH and Beyonc\u00e9 Knowles-Carter&#8217;s unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, heritage and innovation<\/strong><\/b>,\u201d <b><strong>LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault<\/strong><\/b> emphasized in a Mo\u00ebt Hennessy press release.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>A whisky legend<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another precious ingredient: the use of an <b><strong>iconic whisky figure, Dr. Bill Lumsden<\/strong><\/b>, to craft the spirit alongside the singer with 317 million followers&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>This master distiller<\/strong><\/b> earned his reputation and his letters of nobility <b><strong>by making Glenmorangie and Ardbeg<\/strong><\/b> <b><strong>single malt Scotch whiskies<\/strong><\/b> (from a single distillery).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This time, his brief was to imagine a <b><strong>sweeter, milder American whisky<\/strong><\/b>, in the spirit of <b><strong>Beyonc\u00e9&#8217;s prized Japanese spirits.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To arrive at the ideal formula, Bill Lumsden didn&#8217;t hesitate to <b><strong>shake up the tradition of American whisky<\/strong><\/b>, which usually blends three cereals (corn, rye and malted barley). He chose only the last two, resulting in<b><strong> 51% rye and 49% malted barley.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A blend found in Scottish and Japanese single malts, with their sweeter flavors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another departure from Uncle Sam&#8217;s tradition: after the usual initial maturation in American white oak casks, SirDavis is distinguished by a <b><strong>second maturation of six to nine months in&#8230;sherry casks<\/strong><\/b>. The means to enrich itself with \u201cdeeper, richer, fruitier notes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<b><strong>We set out to challenge category norms and offer something new in this area,\u201d explained Bill Lumsden<\/strong><\/b>. \u201cThe distinctive selection of grains and unusual secondary maturation in sherry casks have enabled us to achieve a signature profile that is wholly unique to SirDavis, a profile of bold sophistication.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Building the buzz<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once the whisky was born, all that remained was to make it appreciated and known. And<b><strong> Mo\u00ebt Hennessy and LVMH know how to build buzz&#8230;<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Even before its launch, SirDavis has already won a number of laurels to enhance its legitimacy and desirability:<b><strong> gold medal at the New York International Spirits Competition 2023, \u201cBest In Class\u201d at the SIP Awards 2023 (Spirits International Prestige)<\/strong><\/b>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Last July,<\/strong><\/b> Mo\u00ebt Hennessy skilfully had <b><strong>its new whisky tested by specialist journalists in total secrecy<\/strong><\/b>. And reading their articles today, they have clearly appreciated it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<b><strong>A rich, complex and deliciously drinkable whisky<\/strong><\/b>\u201d, says<b><strong> Neil Ridley, a writer and presenter specializing in drinks<\/strong><\/b>, in the English media<b><strong> Wallpaper<\/strong><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SirDavis is also sure to be well received: the<b><strong> sleek bottle design<\/strong><\/b> was entrusted to <b><strong>Stranger &amp; Stranger, a studio that has won numerous awards<\/strong><\/b>. The result is a sleek, elegant bottle with ribbed glass and a discreet \u201cSirDavis\u201d medallion depicting a bronzed horse in profile.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Promising trends<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to its intrinsic qualities, SirDavis is part of <b><strong>two promising trends: the renewed interest in American rye whisky, and the association of people with wine and spirits brands.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the trade press, <b><strong>American whisky is on a roll these days<\/strong><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The origins of this spirit date back to the 18th century, when Irish and Scottish settlers imported the art of distillation to Uncle Sam.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But as the Americas were more suited to the cultivation of rye, <b><strong>Rye Whisky, containing a majority of this cereal, was born<\/strong><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It became a national glory, and one of the founding fathers of the United States, <b><strong>George Washington himself, distilled it in his cellar and marketed it as \u201cWashington Rye Whisky\u201d<\/strong><\/b>!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The<b><strong>Private Whisky Society website<\/strong><\/b> tells us that <b><strong>the Prohibition period (1920-1939) further enhanced its reputation<\/strong><\/b>. Despite its prohibition, it continued to be distilled (notably by Beyonc\u00e9&#8217;s grandfather&#8230;) and sold on the sly to those who could still afford it. Like <b><strong>Al Capone, whose favorite beverage it was&#8230;<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The comeback of Rye Whisky<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But after Prohibition, <b><strong>only one brand of Rye Whisky -Old Overholt-<\/strong><\/b> continued the tradition.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today, however, according to the Private Whisky Society, we&#8217;re witnessing a<b><strong> genuine revival, with some twenty distilleries now<\/strong><\/b> offering around forty Rye Whiskies to be enjoyed on their own or as the basis for <b><strong>cocktails such as the Manhattan, the Sazerac or the highball<\/strong><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To merit the name of<b><strong> Rye Whisky, a certain number of conditions must be met<\/strong><\/b>: it must contain <b><strong>a minimum of 51% rye<\/strong><\/b> (supplemented by barley and\/or corn), have a <b><strong>distillation alcohol content of at least 80%<\/strong><\/b>, and have been<b><strong> aged for at least two years in burnt new oak casks<\/strong><\/b> at a level of 62%.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another current trend in the world of wines and spirits is <b><strong>to associate them with personalities who give them an extra aura.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stars such as <b><strong>Bob Dylan, ASAP Rocky and Drake, and actors Hilarie Burton, Jamie Foxx and Matthew McConaughey<\/strong><\/b> have already entered the<b><strong> whisky<\/strong><\/b> niche <b><strong>.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Alcohol and stars: a successful tandem<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But the alcohol aisle in the broadest sense also attracts other stars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Influencer<b><strong> Kendall Jenner<\/strong><\/b>, model<b><strong> Eva Longoria<\/strong><\/b>, singer<b><strong> Nick Jonas<\/strong><\/b> and actors <b><strong>George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Ryan Reynolds<\/strong><\/b> have launched (or bought) their own<b><strong> tequila<\/strong><\/b> brands.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Actress <b><strong>Emma Watson<\/strong><\/b> drew on the expertise of her brother Alex to launch<b><strong> Renais, a gin brand that recycles organic grape skins<\/strong><\/b> from the estate of their father Chris Watson, a winemaker in France.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ex-husbands <b><strong>Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt<\/strong><\/b> recently fell out over the <b><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Miraval<\/strong><\/b> wine estate they jointly owned in the south of France.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Beyonc\u00e9 and her husband Jay Z, on the other hand, may have been wiser to<\/strong><\/b> separate their respective businesses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rapper Jay Z, had acquired the<b><strong> Armand de Brignac champagne brand<\/strong><\/b> in 2014, before selling a 50% stake to&#8230;<b><strong>Mo\u00ebt Hennessy<\/strong><\/b>. More than 500,000 bottles are said to have been sold, at between \u20ac300 and \u20ac8,000 each, in 2019, according to the Revue du Vin de France.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All that remains is for Mo\u00ebt Hennessy to invent a non-alcoholic cocktail with promising singer and actress <b><strong>Blue Ivy Carter<\/strong><\/b>, the 12-year-old daughter of Queen B and Jay
