The Vampire’s Wife therefore announces that it has unfortunately taken the decision to cease trading<\/strong> with immediate effect<\/strong>,\u201d announced Susie Cave<\/strong> in a press release, sharing her \u2018great sadness\u2019 on social networks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The former model, actress and muse of photographer David Bailey, had founded the label in 2015<\/strong>, known for its vintage, gothic and glamorous dresses, popular with celebrities and crowned heads, She had named it after a book<\/strong> started but never completed by her husband, Australian musician Nick Cave<\/strong>, aka the \u201cPrince of Darkness\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n British princesses Kate Middleton of Wales and Beatrice of York<\/strong>, actresses Charlotte Riley, Sienna Miller, Zooey Deschanel and Cate Blanchett<\/strong>, models Kate Moss and Alexa Chung<\/strong>, singer Florence Welch<\/strong> (Florence + The Machine) and other high-profile personalities have given the brand its heyday, wearing it on high-profile occasions or even at their weddings…<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n For her official portrait in 2022 with Prince William, the Princess of Wales chose the label’s green Falconetti dress<\/strong>, which Vogue had already named \u201cdress of the decade\u201d.<\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n Susie Cave’s dresses, inspired by the ’50s or Russian ballet<\/strong>, were particularly photogenic<\/strong>, with their flattering cuts and frilly details, while still highlighting the silhouette.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n While some of her models were quite pricey (around \u00a31,500 for the Falconetti)<\/strong>, \u201cThe Vampire’s Wife\u201d was also available in a more accessible version<\/strong>, thanks to a collaboration with fast-fashion retailer H&M<\/strong> at the end of 2020.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Before bowing out, the brand offered a \u201clast opportunity\u201d to buy its clothes<\/strong> from May 24 to 26 at the Music Room in Mayfair, London.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Over a year ago, the women’s ready-to-wear brand reported that it was threatened with liquidation due to an unpaid tax bill<\/strong>. While tourists continue to visit London’s landmarks, they would now prefer to shop in Paris or London.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The British press continues to cite the impact of Fast Fashion and alternative consumption patterns, as well as second-hand and even rental clothing for fine pieces.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Against this backdrop, other British fashion labels and their manufacturers are experiencing unprecedented difficulties<\/strong>, from which some are still recovering, despite their reputation. Another British designer, Mara Hoffman, winner of the CFDA award for sustainability<\/strong> and whose creations were featured in the \u201cSex and the City\u201d series<\/strong>, recently threw in the towel.
