The latest report from the Comit\u00e9 Champagne reveals the ranking of champagne importing countries on the African continent in 2023. South Africa continues to dominate the market, while Nigeria shows a significant drop in champagne imports.<\/h4>\n

In its latest report, the Comit\u00e9 interprofessionnel du vin de Champagne<\/strong> (CIVC or Champagne Committee) has revealed the ranking of African countries as the main importers of champagne in 2023. This ranking highlights the growing importance of this emblematic beverage in certain regions of the continent.<\/p>\n

South Africa, C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria and Morocco<\/strong> top the champagne import rankings.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With 1.42 million bottles in 2023, compared to 1.34 million in 2022, South Africa stands out as the largest importer of champagne, and takes first place in the ranking. In second place is C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, with 681,549 bottles imported in 2023, worth 16.3 million euros. The Democratic Republic of Congo takes third place, with 360,451 bottles of champagne in 2023, worth 14.6 million euros. In 2022, it imported 398,947 bottles worth 13.5 million euros.<\/p>\n

Despite a significant drop in imports in 2023, Nigeria retains fourth place among African champagne importers, with 302,141 bottles worth 15 million euros, compared with 646,036 bottles worth 29.5 million euros in 2022.<\/p>\n

Morocco closes the top five champagne importers, with 292,471 bottles imported in 2023, estimated at a value of 8.9 million euros, compared with 243,639 bottles worth 6.8 million euros in 2022.<\/p>\n

Cameroon<\/strong> also saw an increase in champagne imports in 2023, with 281,880 bottles, worth 9.8 million euros, compared to 242,827 bottles worth 7.9 million euros in 2022. Congo<\/strong>, for its part, imported 259,721 bottles of champagne in 2023, representing a value of 7.5 million euros, compared with 234,914 bottles valued at 6.2 million euros in 2022.<\/p>\n
