La Maison de la rue Cambon continues its mission to preserve fashion know-how, with the acquisition of French clothing group JYBH. The result: four workshops with complementary fashion expertise and a design office.<\/h4>\n

<\/p>\n

While other luxury giants, such as Lvmh and Kering<\/strong>, tend to focus their efforts on the leather industry<\/strong>, securing their purchases by buying up tanneries<\/strong> (mainly French and Italian), Chanel takes a broader approach to luxury know-how.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The group has just confirmed its takeover of the JY BH<\/strong> group<\/strong> and its four ateliers specialized in luxury garments, information initially revealed by Fashion Network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Chanel and Groupe JY BH confirm their agreement to merge<\/strong>, with Chanel taking over the four workshops and all its activities. This decision is motivated by converging interests: the JY BH Group relies on a solid partner<\/strong> that ensures long-term visibility, while Chanel contributes to preserving exceptional know-how<\/strong> in the heart of France”, states the luxury group. Chanel is also taking over all of JY BH’s more than 100 employees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

No exclusivity<\/h2>\n

As is usually the case when luxury subcontractors are acquired, and in particular “in line with Chanel’s strategy in this type of operation”, “the workshops will continue to work with all their customers<\/strong>“, says the luxury group. As in the past, Chanel will not be asking for exclusivity from JY BH, which was already working for Chanel before the takeover, as well as for other competing clients, from major luxury brands to smaller designers.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n
