On Saturday March 2, French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres medal by Anna Wintour.<\/h4>\n

Paris Fashion Week<\/strong> is always a high point. Simon Porte Jacquemus<\/strong> is no exception. On Saturday March 2<\/strong>, the 34-year-old designer<\/strong> was awarded the Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres<\/strong> medal. The prestigious award was presented by Anna Wintour<\/strong>, editor-in-chief of American Vogue.<\/p>\n

The intimate ceremony took place in Jacquemus’ new Paris offices. In the audience, the designer’s close friends and family, such as her husband Marco Maestri<\/strong>, her grandmother and long-time friends Jeanne Damas<\/strong> and Laetitia Casta<\/strong>, were seated between the big names in fashion. The presence of Delphine Arnault<\/strong>, CEO of Dior<\/strong> and an important face of the LVMH group<\/strong>, was particularly noticeable, and rekindled rumors of attempts by the luxury group to take over Maison Jacquemus.<\/p>\n

Now the youngest designer to have received this distinction, Jacquemus took the opportunity to underline the importance of encouraging emerging talent in the fashion industry. Having started his career in 2009<\/strong>, he himself followed an atypical path before achieving international recognition, notably with his scale-model it-bag “Le Chiquito<\/strong>“. An emblematic accessory for the House to which Anna Wintour made reference in her speech: “We now know why Simon Porte Jacquemus created the smallest of bags: it was to store his medal.<\/p>\n
