The Number One in luxury goods has entered into exclusive negotiations with the Lagard\u00e8re group, owned by Vivendi, to buy Paris Match magazine. Bernard Arnault, who owns Les Echos and Le Parisien, had already made a first attempt in 2021.<\/h4>\n

A hundred million euros<\/strong> to buy the newspaper of his birth…<\/p>\n

According to Le Point, that’s how much Bernard Arnault is prepared to pay<\/strong> for the iconic weekly Paris Match<\/strong>. That’s almost double the magazine’s sales (52 million euros)<\/strong> in 2023. Bernard Arnault, as Le Point reminds us, was born in March 1949, the same month as Paris Match. Beyond the wink of an eye, this would be an opportunity for the billionaire to buy one of (the?) most popular and enduring magazines in France.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the 100 million euro offer has not been confirmed, the existence of negotiations<\/strong> for the sale of Paris Match to Lvmh by the Lagard\u00e8re group has been confirmed by both parties. Lagard\u00e8re itself fell into the hands of the Vivendi group, owned by Vincent Bollor\u00e9, last November.<\/p>\n

Exclusive discussions<\/h2>\n

Lagard\u00e8re “has received a purchase offer<\/strong> for the Paris Match share from the LVMH group”, announced Lagard\u00e8re on February 27, at the same time as its annual results. And its Board of Directors “has decided to enter into exclusive discussions” with the Number One in luxury goods.<\/p>\n
