\u201cThe sea is the future of mankind\u201d<\/strong>. This is the message conveyed by the Mus\u00e9e de la Marine.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It took six and a half years of work to bring it back to life.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cOlivier Poivre d\u2019Arvor, Ambassador for the Poles and Maritime Issues and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mus\u00e9e National de la Marine, said during the works: \u201cThe Mus\u00e9e National de la Marine has undergone a profound transformation in preparation for the forthcoming birth of the \u2018Great Maritime Museum of the 21st Century\u2019. \u201cThis cultural centre, which our country needs, will live up to its history and vocation: it will be the maritime soul of France\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The museum has never been so new since it moved to\u00a0the Palais de Chaillot in 1943<\/strong>. A number of challenges have prompted this transformation, including optimising the space to diversify the offer, improving the scenography, bringing the building up to standard and maximising the use of conference rooms, restaurants and the shop.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In all,\u00a0almost 1,000 rooms will form an integral part of the new tour.<\/strong>\u00a0It is divided into four \u201cports of call\u201d, featuring the museum\u2019s flagship objects, and three \u201ccrossings\u201d, describing the maritime issues of yesterday, today and tomorrow.<\/p>\n One of the stop-off points is the \u201cBuilding and teaching\u201d theme. This is where model boats are presented, from toy boats to pieces nearly five metres long. There\u2019s also \u201cFinding your way at sea: the arts of navigation\u201d, which showcases maps, compasses and other lighthouse lenses, as well as modern technological instruments such as the Galileo satellite.<\/p>\n <\/p>\nPorts of call\u2026<\/h2>\n
