Celine chose the recently renovated Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale Richelieu to film its fashion show. Shot last May, the event falls outside the official Paris Fashion Week program. A preppy, student spirit with a dose of sportswear and camera movements that are sure to thrill the TikTok generation.<\/h4>\n

<\/p>\n

For the “Collection Biblioth\u00e8que nationale” show, Celine artistic director Hedi Slimane delivered a vibrant tribute to the 2000s (the glorious “Y2Ks” as the kids say).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A collection faithful to Hedi Slimane’s mantra of long, androgynous, elegant and rocking silhouettes, all brought up to date. Subtitled “Tomboy” (tomboy), the wardrobe plays on the mix of genders but also the femininity card.<\/p>\n

A timeless Parisian setting<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

On Friday October 20, Hedi Slimane presented his Celine fashion show, or rather the film he shared on social networks<\/strong>. 52 models took to the catwalk in the silent, majestic setting of the Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale Richelieu (BNF Richelieu).<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Located opposite the workshops of the Maison de luxe, the establishment reopened last year after twelve years of renovation.<\/strong> For the fashion show, the Library’s aisles were emptied of researchers, curators and students.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Celine silhouettes strolled between the desks, adorned with banker’s lamps, of what remains one of France’s oldest cultural institutions.<\/strong> This former royal library was once the palace of Cardinal Mazarin, the minister of Louis XIII and Louis XIV, then transformed into the national library after the French Revolution of 1789.<\/p>\n

The show is divided between the inner courtyard, the Galerie Vivienne and the Salle Labrouste.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The choice of venue is a nod to the intellectual style of the Maison’s former artistic director, the late Phoebe Philo<\/strong>, who is due to present her first eponymous collection at the end of October.<\/p>\n

With no public, no headliners and even less fashion week pressure<\/strong>, the artistic director, who has been with Celine since 2018, plays the role of free electron.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n
