Also known as the golden ratio<\/strong>, it is used in music, art, architecture and economics to explain universal harmony.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “To accelerate the transition to new modes of production and consumption, 1.618 Paris selects alternatives that provide concrete, desirable answers to the priority issues in their sector”<\/em>, says the event website.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n To reduce its environmental impact, 1.618 Paris has adopted eco-design and is carrying out a carbon footprint assessment.<\/strong> Numerous exhibitors will be on hand, including A-bsolument<\/strong>, a vintage radio restoration company, the JEM jewelry house, Precious woods<\/strong>, world leader in sustainable forest management, and the La Ch\u00eanaie<\/strong> brand of skincare and wellness products.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Validated by a committee of independent experts, these brands, materials and services stand out for their commitment, innovation and creativity”<\/em>, it adds.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations for 2030<\/strong>, the 1.618 Biennial aims to raise visitors’ awareness of priority issues in fashion, design, jewelry, beauty, mobility, gastronomy and travel.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The show will address the question: “Can we lead a good life without costing the planet?”. To answer this question, it will draw on data from the Happy Planet Index (HPI)<\/strong>. Initiated by Nic Marks<\/strong> and now developed by the Hot or Cool Institute<\/strong>, the HPI is calculated on the basis of three indicators: ecological footprint, life expectancy and well-being.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The show will also feature the exhibition “Origins – Artists’ views of primary forests”<\/strong>. The exhibition brings together a dozen international artists<\/strong>, selected by Lauranne Germond<\/strong>, founder of the association Culture et Diversit\u00e9 COAL.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The artists’ plastic research “is rooted in a deep fascination for the richness of these primeval forests, primordial spaces of luxuriant vitality. Through the diversity of their mediums and approaches, these creations reveal a desire for reconciliation”<\/em>, the website continues. “The forest is revealed in all its freedom of expression as the condition for the existence of our humanity and its possible survival.”<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The event, in partnership with the NGO Conservation International<\/strong>, will also feature a virtual reality dive into the heart of the Amazon rainforest<\/strong>, entitled “Under the Canopy”.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Cradle of biodiversity, source of the oxygen we breathe thanks to the colossal trees that relentlessly draw carbon, this essential link in the planetary balance constitutes one of the most important nature-based solutions for combating climate change”<\/em>, says the event website.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Comit\u00e9 Colbert<\/strong> is a partner of the event, exhibiting a selection of eco-designed products<\/strong> from some of its member companies, and hosting an original round table discussion. Longchamp, Ruinart, Lanc\u00f4me, Herm\u00e8s, Kering, Pierre Frey, Patou, Boucheron, Liaigre, Parfums Christian Dior and Chlo\u00e9<\/strong> will be represented in the exhibition.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On June 2 at 2:00 pm<\/strong>, a round-table discussion will focus on actions taken to promote sustainable development, with testimonials from a number of committed companies (Boucheron, Chlo\u00e9, Parfums Christian Dior, Longchamp, Ruinart, R\u00e9my Cointreau).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Major French luxury brands are working to reduce the environmental impact of their products. From the choice of raw materials – recycled, upcycled or from sustainable sources – to transport and energy-efficient manufacturing, everything is designed to limit the impact of their creations, which are designed to be repaired, recharged and passed on.”<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n A program of conferences, round-table discussions and screenings in a 250-seat auditorium<\/strong> will further explore the topics covered along the way.
