The good performance of the Prada, Moncler and Tod&#8217;s groups in the first quarter of 2023 confirms the good health of the sector in Italy.<\/h4>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Luxury, and in particular fashion, is once again demonstrating its strength in the Italian business model.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The latest <strong>Brand Finance Italy<\/strong> ranking, which has just been published, bears witness to this. It ranks the <strong>100 most valued brands<\/strong> in the country using the methodology proven by the world&#8217;s leading brand valuation and strategy consultancy group since its creation in 1996. To calculate the value of a brand, Brand Finance&#8217;s teams take into account the &#8220;brand strength&#8221; based on investment, image and performance; the associated royalty rate and the current and projected financial performance achieved under the brand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In general, the Brand Finance Italy study highlights the fact that <strong>luxury brands &#8220;are on average the fastest growing brands compared to last year&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Gucci at the top of the list<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As in 2022, <strong>Gucci, belonging to the French group Kering<\/strong>, is at the top of the list with an estimated value of $17.11 billion (+10% compared to 2022). By way of comparison, in the Brand Finance France 2023 ranking, Louis Vuitton (Lvmh) occupies first place, with a value of $25.3 billion (+25% compared to 2022).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another fashion group to shine in the firmament of transalpine companies is <strong>Prada<\/strong>, which has moved up four places to <strong>10th place<\/strong>, with a value of $3.57 billion. <strong>Armani<\/strong> also improved its score, moving up from 15th to <strong>13th place<\/strong>, as did <strong>Bottega Veneta, to 25th place<\/strong> compared to 28th last year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, two Houses fall slightly in the first quarter of the ranking, namely <strong>Moncler (15th in 2023 instead of 13th in 2022) and Bulgari (22nd instead of 16th).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Still in personal goods, the<strong> Rayban<\/strong> eyewear brand, in 14th place in 2022, moves up to <strong>12th place<\/strong> in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two luxury car brands<\/strong> are also at the top of the ranking. <strong>Ferrari is in seventh place<\/strong> (up from sixth in 2022), with a value of<strong> 7.42 million dollars<\/strong>, while <strong>Lamborghini<\/strong> has gone from 26th place in 2022 to <strong>11th place in 2023: its value has risen by 149% to 4.1 billion dollars!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Good first quarters 2023<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Like the Brand Finance Italy 2023 ranking, the <strong>good results for the first quarter of 2023 of several luxury goods companies in Italy confirm their good health.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prada&#8217;s sales rose by 22% to 1.065 billion euros<\/strong> thanks to good performances in Asia, driven by China, and in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan, retail revenues at constant exchange rates were up 22%. <em>&#8220;During the first quarter, China once again became a growth driver, leading to a solid rebound in sales in Asia-Pacific,&#8221;<\/em> said <strong>Andrea Guerra<\/strong>, who took over as Prada&#8217;s CEO in January.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Europe<\/strong>, retail sales at constant exchange rates<strong> rose by 28%<\/strong>, but in the<strong> Americas<\/strong>, a less buoyant market for luxury goods at the moment, their growth was more<strong> modest (+ 5%)<\/strong>. Among the group&#8217;s brands, <strong>Miu Miu (+42%)<\/strong> did even better than <strong>Prada (+21%)<\/strong>, which was itself already very dynamic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Rebound in China<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For its part, <strong>Moncler<\/strong> also started the year very well, <strong>with a 23% increase in sales, well above analysts&#8217; forecasts<\/strong>. While analysts were expecting a turnover of 689 million euros, it reached 726.4 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Like Prada, the company known for its ultra-high-end down jackets <strong>has recovered well on the Chinese market. As a result, in Asia, its turnover grew by +32%.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>EMEA regions (Europe, Middle East, Africa), sales rose by 29%,<\/strong> boosted by the shopping of tourists, especially American and Korean. Growth in the <strong>US was more moderate (+9%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The eponymous flagship brand <strong>Moncler did very well (+28% to 604.8 million euros)<\/strong>, while <strong>Stone Island grew more modestly (+5%<\/strong> to 121.6 million euros). The arrival at the head of the latter of a <strong>new managing director, Robert Triefus &#8211; an ex-Kering (Gucci Vault and Metaverse Ventures)<\/strong>, charged with leading the second phase of its strategic evolution could give it renewed vigour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Tod&#8217;s also in good shape<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, another emblematic transalpine group, <strong>Tod&#8217;s also had a fine first quarter in 2023, with a 23% increase<\/strong> in turnover to 270.5 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Like its compatriots, it benefited from the <strong>rebound in Greater China<\/strong>, where revenues posted 88.6 million euros (compared to 68.5 million euros in 2022).
