Rockefeller<\/strong>, and was bought in the early 1990s<\/strong> by Steve and Linda Horn<\/strong>, producers of television commercials in the United States.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n This transaction represents a good deal for the territorial authority of Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy. The latter will in fact collect 5% of the amount<\/strong>, as part of the territorial legislation on registration fees for the transaction. This amounts to “a little over 6 million euros”<\/em><\/strong>, said its president, Xavier L\u00e9d\u00e9e.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The property, the largest on the island according to the territorial planning department, covers nearly 52 hectares<\/strong> in the Colombier district (northwest). David Rockefeller, who died at age 101 in 2017<\/strong>, had commissioned architect Nelson W. Aldrich<\/strong> to design the villa, which was completed in the early 1960s<\/strong>. The estate includes a traditional Caribbean-style main villa, several outbuildings to accommodate guests or staff, a swimming pool, a tennis court and large landscaped gardens.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The last owners had been looking for a buyer since the villa was severely damaged by Hurricane Irma in 2017<\/strong>, says the buyer’s advisor. Adam Sinn says he is “thrilled to have acquired such an iconic piece of history”<\/em>, and assures that “at this point, there are no plans other than the desire to restore the property to its Rockefeller years glory.”<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Since the passage of a new local ordinance in December 2020<\/strong>, “the property is in a natural area. While some development is possible, it is only possible on minimal areas.
