Yves Saint Laurent<\/strong> goes to the big screen! The famous luxury brand announced Thursday the creation of a film production company, Saint Laurent Productions<\/strong>. It will make its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in the official selection with “Strange Way of life”, by Pedro Almod\u00f3var<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The fashion house, which belongs to the Kering<\/strong> group, says it is the first luxury brand to have film production as a full-fledged business.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Saint Laurent’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello<\/strong>, who has been with the company since 2016<\/strong>, will make the costumes for the films produced by Saint Laurent Productions.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “I want to work with all the great film talent that has inspired me over the years and give them a space”<\/em>, he said in a statement.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Saint Laurent Productions will thus participate in the 76th Cannes Film Festival from May 16 to 27<\/strong> as part of the official selection with Pedro Almod\u00f3var’s “Strange Way of Life,” starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal<\/strong>, the statement said.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kering is already committed to the world of cinema, particularly with Women in Motion<\/strong>, which for the past 9 years “highlights women in cinema, in front of and behind the camera”. This year, the award will be presented to Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n David Cronenberg and Paolo Sorrentino<\/strong> are among the filmmakers with whom Saint Laurent Productions has other projects in the works.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “These directors never fail to open my mind and, in a way, the singular and radical vision they bring to cinema has made me the person I am today”<\/em>, says Anthony Vaccarello.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In 2022<\/strong>, Saint Laurent achieved a turnover of 3.3 billion euros<\/strong>, up 33% compared to the previous year. The brand did not specify how much money will be invested in the films it intends to produce.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from May 16 to 27, unveiled yesterday its selection of films for the 76th edition.
