French casino group and luxury hotel player Lucien Barri\u00e8re<\/strong> is rejuvenating its governance.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The group, which celebrated its 110th anniversary<\/strong> last year, has announced, via a press release, the forthcoming arrival at its head of Alexandre Barri\u00e8re<\/strong>, aged 36 and son of the current CEO, Dominique Desseigne.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n He will be appointed Chairman of the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de participation deauvillaise (SPD)<\/strong>, the family holding company that owns 60%<\/strong> of Groupe Lucien Barri\u00e8re (GLB). In addition, Alexandre Barri\u00e8re will hold, “in concert with the family, a 60.51% stake in the capital of Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 fermi\u00e8re du casino municipal de Cannes (SFCMC)”<\/strong><\/em> and “has a vocation to hold all of the family’s shareholdings”.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “The family has agreed to a change in the group’s governance and the terms of its shareholding”<\/em>, the statement said.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Joy Desseigne-Barri\u00e8re<\/strong>, Dominique Desseigne’s daughter and Alexandre’s sister, will be appointed chairman of the board of SFCMC and Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Immobili\u00e8re et d’Exploitation de l’H\u00f4tel Majestic (SIEHM).<\/strong> The appointment of this 32-year-old woman “will be subject to the approval of their boards of directors”.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Current CEO Dominique Desseigne will be appointed Honorary Chairman of the group<\/strong>. Over the last fifteen years, under his presidency, the group’s revenues have increased sixfold.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The group is the leader in France and Europe in the casino market, a benchmark in luxury hotels and a global player in leisure and entertainment.<\/strong> It has 32 casinos and a gaming club, 19 luxury hotels and more than 140 restaurants, 3 golf courses and employs some 6,500 people.
