The World Car Awards is an awards ceremony at the New York International Auto Show<\/strong>. It is judged by a panel of 100 leading international automotive journalists<\/strong>. They select the winners by secret ballot from 32 countries<\/strong> based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the Global Luxury Car category, Lucid Air was chosen from an initial selection of 16 vehicles<\/strong> from around the world, followed by a shortlist of three finalists<\/strong> revealed on March 7.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “We are honored to receive this World Car award, which reinforces my belief that the Lucid Air is the best car available in the world today”<\/em>, said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group. “I am extremely proud of the entire Lucid team for this award, and I look forward to the future advancements we have planned.”<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Lucid Air, the company’s first car, is a state-of-the-art luxury sedan<\/strong> produced at Lucid’s Casa Grande, Arizona<\/strong>, plant and will go on sale in 2021. It has an official EPA<\/strong>-estimated range (Environmental Protection Agency, an agency in the U.S. that measures the range of an electric vehicle) of 5,000 miles and 1,050 horsepower.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Lucid’s renowned in-house powertrain technology gives the Lucid Air a revolutionary electric range of more than 500 miles, demonstrating what is possible for a technology company that merges advanced software and hardware”<\/em>, the CEO added.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In addition to receiving the Global Luxury Car of the Year award, the Lucid Air received the Newsweek Disruptor Award for Powertrain 2023<\/strong> in New York this week, in recognition of its groundbreaking electric vehicle technology. The model was also named to US News & World Report’s “2023 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars”<\/strong> list in the “Best Luxury Electric Car”<\/strong> category.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Lucid Air has set a new industry benchmark for range with two versions of the electric vehicle, the first to achieve an EPA-estimated range of more than 500 miles. The company has set these new standards through its holistic approach to range<\/strong> and power<\/strong>.
