On January 1, 2021 Montblanc appointed its new General Manager for the watch division: Laurent Lecamp who succeeds Davide Cerrato, who has been at the head of the division for 5 years and who intends to pursue new professional challenges outside the Richemont group.

Extensive expertise in the field

Laurent Lecamp is Franco-Swiss and was trained in gemmology and Neoma Business School.

Laurent Lecamp’s career began at the famous LVMH group as Brand Director of the Wines & Spirits division in Switzerland. Subsequently, he was involved in various entrepreneurial and leadership missions within the watch industry such as numerous research projects and book publishing.

In addition, one of his books, “The Independent luxury”, was elected in 2015 by the New York Times as one of the three reference books on luxury strategy.

He began dedicating his career to fine watchmaking in 2010 when he co-founded his own watchmaking brand Cyrus Watches with his cousin. His goal was to produce technical pieces that were both aesthetic and playful, with a very strong identity. However, he will abandon his brand in 2014 by selling his equity.

The same year, he took over the position of Executive Vice President of Sales at Carl F. Bucherer and sat on the company’s Board of Directors, before joining Montblanc 6 years later.

Based on his professional background, Laurent Leblanc seems to be one of the most relevant choices for the house.

A promising direction

“I am convinced that the success of Montblanc’s watch division is measured by its innovation and its strong emotional bond with customers, specialized journalists and watch enthusiasts. I will strive to further develop these two drivers, drawing on Minerva’s exceptional heritage, passionate employees and unrivalled expertise,” confided Laurent Lecamp.

Alongside Nicolas Baretzki, the new Chief Executive Officer, he will therefore pursue the defined strategy, continuing to capitalize on the assets of the Minerva manufacture, acquired by the brand.

To impose Montblanc watches more widely alongside the iconic luxury pens is also part of the objectives.

“I am delighted that Laurent has decided to join Montblanc as the new General Manager of the Watch Division and that we are able to embark together on this exciting new chapter. With his vast expertise, he will play a key role in pursuing Minerva’s successful strategy of deep-rooting Minerva in Montblanc’s watch division, projecting the House’s important watchmaking pillar into the future. “said the brand’s CEO.
