The Volkswagen group about to sell Bugatti in Rimac ?

Discussions are ongoing. The Volkswagen Group’s decision will be taken in the first half of 2021.

In September 2020, a piece of information concerning both groups made the headlines: the possible sale of Bugatti to Rimac by WV. Four months later, there is still no follow-up!

However, a statement was recently made to the German newspaper Automobilwoche: Porsche CEO Oliver Blume announced that the final fate of Bugatti would be decided in the first half of the year 2021. “At the moment, there are intensive discussions about how Bugatti can best be developed. Rimac could have a role because the brands fit well with the technology,” he explained.

Sources claim that Volkswagen’s management approved the agreement, but that it had not yet been signed by the supervisory board.

Oliver Blume took advantage of the announcement to confirm that Porsche plans to cut costs by 10 billion euros by 2025, compared to 6 billion euros previously.

It should also be noted that Porsche holds 15.5% of Rimac’s shares. According to the rumors, by selling Bugatti, the Volkswagen group would require Porsche to increase its stake in the Croatian manufacturer to 49%.
