On April 24th, the New York streetwear label Supreme unveiled, in an exclusive collaboration with Takashi Murakami, a minimalist white t-shirt where his famous logo appeared adorned with the Japanese artist’s characteristic pop flowers. It was a huge success: this t-shirt – sold in the United States and Canada for the price of 60 dollars – raised more than a million dollars in just a few days. 100% of the proceeds were donated to Help USA, an organization that helps the homeless severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

1,052,040 dollars: that’s the total amount raised by a T-shirt designed by Takashi Murakami for Supreme.

On April 24th, the American label Supreme released on its American website a new piece, resulting from its collaboration with contemporary artist Takashi Murakami.

A simple white t-shirt, featuring the “Supreme” logo with the Japanese artist’s unmistakable colourful flowers: pink, purple and red daisies.

On the back of the t-shirt you can also see Murakami’s logo and the words “COVID-19 Relief Fund 2020”.

A philanthropic initiative

If the New York brand Supreme has called upon the genius of the artist-plastician Takashi Murakami to create a 100% original logo, it is to help the most vulnerable people, made even more fragile by the context of the current Coronavirus outbreak.

Indeed, as announced on social networks, Supreme has decided to sell the t-shirt for the unique price of $60 (about 55€) and to donate all the profits to a Brooklyn-based charity, HELP USA, which helps homeless Americans at risk during the Covid-19 pandemic by providing them with shelter, food and other essential services.

Sold in the United States and Canada, this “Box Logo Tee” from the Supreme X Takashi Murakami collection has been adulated by fashion aficionados: the t-shirts have sold for more than a million dollars in just two weeks, a record success.

The Supreme streetwear brand had already collaborated with the OAMC brand in 2019 and donated all the funds to charity.

In 2020, Supreme is therefore maintaining its great philanthropic spirit as a tool in the fight against COVID-19.
