Louis Vuitton unveils its ephemeral bookstore in its Saint-Germain-des-Prés boutique

During the lockdown, the Louis Vuitton store in Saint-Germain-des-Prés is transformed into a temporary bookstore and offers all the Louis Vuitton books published by the company for over 20 years.
With fashion stores closed in Paris due to lockdowns, Louis Vuitton has transformed its store in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district into an ephemeral bookstore, displaying the entire range of Louis Vuitton publications. This selection of books and magazines covers various themes such as fashion, architecture, design, travel, photography, and other visual arts.

Louis Vuitton‘s connection to literature dates back more than 100 years, when the designer’s grandson, Gaston-Louis Vuitton (1883-1970), opened a reading and correspondence room in the Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Elysées in 1914. The grandson of the trunk-maker Louis Vuitton, who was passionate about art books and literature in general, even designed trunks that acted as mini-libraries, as well as cases specially reserved for typewriters.

The boutique, which usually houses the ready-to-wear collections and the perfume and accessories area of the Louis Vuitton house, is transformed to display its catalog, which includes more than 100 books, published by the house for over 20 years. The collections include Fashion Age, dedicated to fashion photography, City Guide, a tourist guide to several major cities around the world, and the Travel Book collection, which is made up of sketchbooks.
Visit the Louis Vuitton store on the Left Bank, at 170 Boulevard Saint-Germain, in the sixth arrondissement of Paris, to consult or purchase these collection books.
