IWC Schaffhausen x Orlebar Brown: A new summer collaboration for sporty and elegant new pieces

The two luxury brands have chosen the month of July to announce their new collaboration. To mark this partnership, the Swiss watch manufacturer unveiled the Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph Editions “Orlebar Brown” watch at the same time as the brand’s new summer collection of nine pieces.

On this occasion, IWC will launch its steel model of the Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph “Orlebar Brown” Edition watch (ref: IW3900704).

With its stainless steel case of refined proportions, featuring a navy blue dial and a co-branded folding clasp with lateral attachment, the marine chronograph, water-resistant to 6 bars, is the ideal companion for sailing and lazing around on the beach.

It represents white and red notes, two recurring colours in the Orlebar Brown product range.

The elegantly proportioned marine chronograph is mounted on a blue rubber strap inlaid with textile. Equipped with a flyback function, the IWC 89361 manufactory-made calibre indicates the hours and minutes measured in a single window at 12 o’clock and offers a power reserve of 68 hours.

Available as of today in IWC boutiques and from authorized dealers.

Collaboration based on shared values

The British brand Orlebar Brown, whose founder is Adam Brown, was founded in London in 2007. Adam Brown had just returned from Rajasthan where he was invited to celebrate the 40th birthday of one of his friends.

On the poolside of the hotel’s swimming pool, he noticed that the group of friends, who were generally well dressed, were caught off guard when it came to men’s clothing due to the limited choice of briefs, shorts and swim trunks that conformed to the standards.

It is then that Adam realizes the advantages of wearing a suit adapted to the pool during the moments of sharing. It was 18 months later that the first Orlebar Brown swim shorts were sold.

Based on the classic pattern of a man’s suit trousers, the Orlebar Brown swimming shorts consist of 60 elements and have a four-piece shaped waistband, a zip and side adjustment buckles that guarantee an optimum fit.

The CEO of IWC Schaffhausen is delighted to be working with his new partner in the manufacture, as the two brands share common values: “IWC and Orlebar Brown share a common passion that drives them every day when it comes to know-how, innovation and quality. Orlebar Brown is reinventing casual wear, which is becoming both sporty and elegant, proving through a unique and targeted approach that men can also be at their best in casual wear. As one of the most innovative companies in its sector, the company is constantly setting high standards in terms of comfort, quality and functionality.”
