To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Gucci has launched its new Haute Horlogerie collection. The event featured a selection of high-end models designed in Switzerland by Alessandro Michele, the Italian house’s artistic director.

With this release, the house combines Italian style with Swiss savoir-faire with its new GG727.25 calibre, the first Gucci movement developed and produced by the Kering movement factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

The new Haute Horlogerie collection consists of four lines: The 25H, the G-Timeless, the Grip…as well as high jewellery models. The models range from 8,500 euros to 250,000 euros.

“Each is inspired by Gucci’s artisanal heritage and iconic elements, such as flora and fauna, talismans and the famous GG logo,” the brand said in a statement.

The collection can be viewed by appointment at Gucci’s Parisian jewellery shop on Place Vendôme, but the brand has also been quick to highlight a few models on its Instagram account. This is the case for the 25h line, for example. Images of the Grip Gold and the G-Timeless Dancing Bees were also revealed.

The 25h, an ultra-thin and refined watch

Sleek, sporty lines and an innovative ultra-flat case are the attractive aesthetic features of the sublime Gucci 25H. This unisex watch is available in two models, one in steel and the other with diamond pavé. Two other variants are added in the form of a tourbillon available in platinum or yellow gold.

Note that the number 25 is a reference to Alessandro Michele’s talismanic number, present in several of his clothing collections.

The GG727.25 calibre also features other fetish numbers: the 7, which expresses achievement, the 2, which evokes balance and cooperation, and the 5, which symbolises curiosity and freedom.

Gucci was the first fashion and luxury house to start making watches in 1972. To do so, it chose the know-how of Swiss watchmakers. Its headquarters dedicated to watches are located in Neuchâtel and its factory specialising in the manufacture of dials in the canton of Ticino. Quality control, assembly and diamond setting are carried out in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
