Giorgio Armani: a partnership yes, but 100% Italian

Speaking to the American magazine Vogue, Giorgio Armani declared, for the first time, that he was ready to consider a possible alliance, provided that it was with another Italian company and not with a French group.

 

“We could imagine a relationship with a major Italian company,” he said, without elaborating, but explaining that the pandemic had somehow changed his vision and “opened the eyes” of the group.

 

In the interview published on the Vogue website, Roberta Armani, Giorgio’s niece who works at the company, also said, “it could be great, in the end, to have a major ‘Made in Italy’ joint venture in the fashion industry.”

 

However, she said she was not aware of her uncle’s plans.

 

However, one thing is certain, a takeover by one of the two major French luxury groups, LVMH and Kering, is an option to be ruled out according to the brand’s founder. Giorgio Armani will not follow the path of other Italian brands such as Gucci, Fendi and Bulgari, even if he admits that the strategy of independence that he has long defended was no longer “as strictly necessary”.
