After fifteen years of good and loyal service, the president and managing director of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), Fabienne Lupo, is to leave the organisation that notably organises the Geneva Watch Show. At the same time, the Watches & Wonders salon has just announced that it will be moving to Shanghai, China, for the first time.

From 9 to 13 September 2020, eleven brands will invite themselves to the West Bund Art Center to enable visitors to immerse themselves in the world of watchmaking and to discover a sneak preview of the latest 2020 innovations from the houses.

Indeed, this is a first in Shanghai where the Watches & Wonders event will take place, although it has already been held in Hong Kong in the past.

The news came as the departure of the director of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) was announced yesterday Monday by the organisation.

Emmanuel Perrin will temporarily take over the running of the structure, the FHH said.

An event that is a continuation of the 100% digital exhibition

Professionals, amateurs and enthusiasts of fine watchmaking, the media, retailers and customers will be able to immerse themselves in this universe and preview the new products of the eleven brands, mainly those of the Richemont group.

The different brands will set up shop in two halls in the heart of the West Bund Art Center as a new “Cultural Spotlight” in Shanghai, where art galleries and living spaces will mix to welcome visitors.

Note that the show is a continuation of the 100% digital Watches & Wonders show that took place at the end of April on the website.

The Auditorium will host presentations of the brands’ product launches as well as conferences and discussion panels on subjects such as the return of the pilot watch, or the craze for vintage watches.

3 workshops will be offered to the public

In particular, the LAB, a space dedicated to innovation that will allow the presentation of certain projects and technological advances of the exhibiting companies.

Next, the watchmaking initiation workshop, which will invite visitors to discover the secrets and mysteries of watchmaking mechanics.

Finally, the Trades area will welcome craftsmen and master watchmakers for demonstrations of rare know-how.
