Soldiers have always placed great importance on the beauty, quality and richness of their uniforms, equipment or weapons in order to differentiate themselves from civilians.
The embroidery, goldsmith’s trade and saddlery used testify to an ancestral and artisanal know-how.
Over time, the rank of the soldiers and their political regime, the various equipment has constantly evolved.
This exhibition highlights the legitimacy of political power, merit and distinction within a group through a historical and aesthetic approach.
In addition to the exhibition, know-how workshops and family tours organized to satisfy a wide audience, several film screenings and conferences will be held at the Austerlitz Auditorium of the Army Museum.
