The National Chamber of Italian Fashion (Camera nazionale della moda italiana) has announced on Monday, June 8th the comeback of Dolce & Gabbana within the official catwalk calendar after over 20 years out. The Italian firm, headed by the designer couple Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, will therefore participate in the first edition of Milan Digital Fashion Week on July 15th.

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is very pleased to announce that Dolce & Gabbana has joined the association”. On its official Twitter account, the Italian National Chamber of Fashion (CNMI) announced on Monday 8 May the re-entry of the brand into the organisation, which for two decades has been responsible for representing the interests of hundreds of companies linked to the world of fashion and promoting various initiatives aimed at giving visibility to their talent and creativity.

Twenty-two years after leaving Italy’s highest fashion authority after major differences with the management of the organisation, the Milanese label has now returned as a full member of the CNMI and has even joined some of its solidarity initiatives, including the “Italia, we are with you” solidarity project to fight against the pandemic and finance health equipment such as respirators and protective clothing.

A “generous” support that Carlo Capasa, the president of the organisation, publicly welcomed and which has in some way helped to seal their reconciliation: “This is an important message of unity and solidarity in such a difficult moment. It has a symbolic value.”

Creative directors Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said on their Instagram page that these collaborations have brought them closer to the Camera della Moda as well as to Italy, and that “a renewal of their partnership is the natural result of it“, especially since twenty years have passed since the first disagreements.

We have always been in love with Italy and all its beauty and resources, and we have invested our energy in supporting it and making it known throughout the world. Fashion needs more than ever a strong positivity and union. At a special moment like this, we thought it was important and right to join forces“, said the two stylists in chorus.

This reintegration means that the Italian house will join the official calendar of shows, after having run outside of the Fashion Weeks calendar for 22 years.

Unlike many luxury brands such as Saint Laurent, that announced their withdrawal from the official Fashion Weeks calendar for the year 2020, the famous company will participate in the next edition of the “Milano Digital Fashion Week”, scheduled from July 14 to 17, replacing the traditional Milanese Fashion Weeks, and will join the brands Etro, Bottega Veneta and Gucci, among others.

The celebrations of the new “Digital Fashion Week” will be available on all the official platforms of the Camera Nazionale, such as its official page and its social network accounts such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Weibo and YouTube.

This first 100% digital Fashion Week in Milan, adapted to the coronavirus, will thus take the form of a digital platform on which photo and video content, interviews, webinars, conferences and online performances will be shared.

This is a remarkable return for Dolce & Gabbana, as it consolidates our system and our Association. This is happening at a difficult time for the fashion industry and it is rooted in the strong ties that link designers to our country. Today more than ever, it is important to be united as a system and protect our unique industry“, said proudly Carlo Capasa, President of the Camera nazionale della moda italiana.
