Copper, the new anti-conformist fragrance from Comme des Garçons

With Copper, Comme des Garçons signs a new unisex olfactory proposal with full of contrasts.

The fashion house created by Rei Kawakubo dedicates its new creation to copper, considered as ordinary, to make it “exceptional”.

Comme des garçons is celebrating 25 years of perfumery with cascading launches since the fall: alongside the trio of the “Clash” series, Yoyogi (fourth fragrance in the collection launched in collaboration with Monocle magazine), and Odeur du Théâtre du Châtelet Act I, designed for the Parisian theater, here is Copper.

The brand which is famous for it’s unique bottle shaped like a pebble present in a matte copper color, an olfactory translation of this paradoxical metal, both “flamboyant red” and “fresh to the touch”.

At the first opening, notes of fresh and luminous pink berries combine with the green of galbanum.

An alloy of ginger rhizome and tobacco mixed with synthetic metallic notes immediately blend in.

A trio of amber, vanilla and myrrh brings a parallel warm and sensual tonality.

Christian Astuguevieille, the brand’s creative director of fragrances, who worked with an unnamed perfumer, says he wanted to ‘transform contradictions into compatibility’.
